Autumn term
Science
Our topic this half term is the plant life cycle. We have been learning about the different parts of a plant by dissecting a flower. We are also trying to clone a potato to see if it will reproduce by asexual reproduction (tuber).
Oak's science experiments

History topic - World War 2
As part of our topic we have been learning about rationing food. We got to make fruity buns, try carrot biscuits and beetroot pudding. We were not sure about the pudding!
WW2 Rationing

We got to hold and look at a real WW2 children's gas mask (Mickey Mouse Gas Mask)
IWM Duxford

Make do and Mend
The children used cereal boxes to recycle into children's board games. We also recycled old clothes into soft toys.
Sharing Assembly

Morse Code
The children built circuits and used torches to try and use the morse code.

Space - Autumn 2
Oak class commenced their topic on Space by learning about the scale of the Earth, the moon, and the sun. The children then went outside to try and guess the distance between the planets. We learned that space is vast and that all the planets wouldn’t fit on the playground even when we worked within a scale.

Day and Night
This week in science, we learnt how day and night are related to the spin of the Earth on its axis, that the Earth orbits the sun and that the moon takes a month to orbit the Earth.
