Summer Term 2022

Dear Parents and Carers of Wren’s Class,

Our topic this term is Inside Out. We are learning about how we look after our bodies: heathy food choices, sleep patterns, exercise and wellbeing. In Art we will be studying sculpture and plan to create one of our own.

Our English genre is instructions and explanations. We will be reading a wide variety and writing some of our own.

For Maths, in addition to our basic number work we will look at the topic of shape and measurement: weight, length and capacity.  Year 4 will also be focusing on decimals and multiplication.

We will find out about the history of our local area. This will include a walk around the village looking out for buildings or objects of historical interest, using old photographic evidence and interviewing local residents and family.

Science will be investigating growth in plants and the conditions they need. We will be regularly visiting the school garden for hands on experience. In addition, year 4s will we learning about significant Scientists and Inventors.

In R.E. we will tackle the subject of how to make the world a better place. We will look at the Muslim and Christian viewpoints.

We will continue to run the Daily Mile and begin to focus on athletics. Please remember to have your PE kit in school (including dark joggers) and to remove earrings for the sessions on Mondays and Thursdays.

During this term the Year 2s will carry out some written work and Maths activities to feed into their end of Key Stage 1 assessment. The year 4s are going to be working on all their multiplication tables up to 12 x 12 in preparation for their assessment in June.
