Oak Class Easter Song 2026 (Untitled)

Oak Class Easter Song 2026

Please note, there is a temporary track to help you practise the song. It has Mr Oliver-Dean's vocals on it! This is intended to be a guide to help you at first. When I have recorded children singing, I will aim to replace this, but it will help you before the Easter service on Monday 16th March.

There is also a backing track with no vocals but with a piano playing the vocal tune.

Three girls have helped record a backing track to use on Monday. This was a random group of children - the first three who said 'Yes' when I asked for someone to help with the track. The intention is to record everyone who wants their voices recorded equally to produce a final version of the song.

Oak Easter Song 2026 - Vocal Guide

Please note that this is a temporary vocal guide. It will be replaced in time with children's vocals.

Oak Easter Song 2026 - Backing Track

A backing track with no vocals but with a piano playing the vocal melody.

Lyrics

On La Via, walking sorrow’s way

Carrying the cross he bears in pain.

On a hill, three crosses hide the sun

Silhouette of hopefulness to come.

Simon of Cyrene helped our Lord

Carrying that cross along the road.

Suffering, a thorn crown on his head.

He who would soon triumph over death.

Easter’s here – let us all cheer!

Jesus is risen again.

All nights end; there’s nothing to fear.

Have fun but remember that it’s more than

Chocolate eggs: give thanks now and pray.

Join in the celebration.

Winter’s gone, Spring’s on its way!

Today!

From the Garden where he was betrayed.

We all seem to need someone to blame.

Laughs and whispers, harsh condemning stares

There upon the cross, our crimes He bears.

Free now from an open, empty tomb.

Sharing love and new life, healing wounds.

Leader, teacher, sharing bread and wine.

Saving others through his sacrifice.

Lyric Ideas - Children's lyrics from which the song lyrics were compiled.

Please note: 'La Via' refers to the Via Dolorosa ('Way of Sorrow'), which is the road Jesus took to Calvary.

Melodies: Darcy O (pre-chorus); Darcy O (chorus start – adapted by Mr Oliver-Dean; whole class (verse - chosen a note at a time starting with chord tones))

Chords: Selected by the class by voting for starting chord, subsequent chords, passing chords and variations.

Time signature: derived from Darcy’s original melody, which was in 5-time

Key: originally in C (as a starting point for chords but coincidentally the key Darcy’s original melody – pre-chorus – was in)

Lyrics: compiled from lyric ideas, fragments and verse/chorus lyrics written by children – melody came first, lyrics to fit then melody adapted as necessary

Sophia:

Easter’s here

Let’s all cheer

Through our Christ

He sacrificed.

He got tortured

Then got slaughtered

A holy dove

From above

Shared his love.

Come and worship him,

Come see where he was pinned.

He was our leader

And our teacher.

Don’t ever forget our Lord,

The Son of God.

Josh:

Easter is a time to share.

Jesus sacrificed himself for others.

Easter is a mark for new life.

Ivy:

Simon of Cyrene carried the cross.

Jesus was suffering and fell when carrying.

Jesus was given a crown of thorns.

Buried in a tomb found empty.

Shared bread and wine with his followers.

The Garden of Gethsemane.

Scarlett:

This is the time when Jesus comes back.

He was given the crown of thorns.

Name?

Chocolate Easter Eggs, Summer on the way, oh oh oh

Flora:

Easter’s here

Celebration!

Resurrected

He was.

He died on

The Cross.

He had a thorn crown.

Kitty:

Carrying the cross in pain

On a mountain with three crosses.

A thorn crown on his head

Suffering, bleeding, dying

He resurrected, found in a tomb.

Jesus was given a crown of thorns.

He died on the cross for us.

Wine – bread

Carrying the cross

Suffering

Sophie:

He died for us

He came back with holes in his hands

His thorn crown

Bleeding in pain

Name?

Triumph against death

Rise again from the dead

Walking with sorrow

The way

Darcy R:

Easter eggs, choco eggs, chocolate eggs

Christ – Lord – Saviour

Jesus died

Crucified

Hung upon a cross

Crown of thorns

Crown a king

Love

Sharing

Light

Erin:

When he was crucified

And couldn’t ask for help

He was put inside a tomb

(Impossible to help, to reach him)

Alfie:

Jesus rose from the dead.

He came back to life. Resurrection.

Jesus was put in a tomb.

Name?

A skull with three crosses

Hope will come

Kelsie:

Crown of thorns

Jesus died on a cross.

Jesus was given a crown of thorns.

Lincoln:

Jesus was crucified.

Jesus was buried.

Jesus rose from the dead.

Most followers didn’t believe it was Jesus until he showed his wounds.

Darcy O:

When the king sentenced Jesus,

Everyone cheered.

Judas with guilt

Simon of Cyrene, helpful and loving

Carried the cross for our saviour king.

When our Jesus is on the cross

No one there

No on to spare

Everybody standing there

Whispers and laughs

Condemning stares

Not as pretty as royalty

Betrayed

He died on the cross in shame
