Oak Class 19/11/2025
Oak Class Astronomy Questions - Wednesday 19th November 2025
- How are we protected from radiation in space but not if we travel to Mars?
- Will it be possible to live on another planet even if there is no gravity and you can't breathe on it?
- NB All planets will have some gravity, as all planets have mass. Every object with mass exerts a gravitational pull on other objects with mass.
- Are there more planets that we don't know about?
- Are there aliens in space or is it just a myth?
- Who has survived in space for the longest?
- What is dark energy?
- What created the first energy if energy can't be created or destroyed (conservation of mass-energy)?
- If you had a rocket and you were on top of the Earth (North) and go into space, would it be possible to go downwards (the bottom of the Earth) and land on Antarctica?
- NB There is no 'top' or 'bottom' of the Earth. However, the North is conventionally presented as the 'top'. This is useful for describing motion and position. Using the South as the 'top' would have worked equally well, but it there is less confusion if everyone uses the same reference.
- Why do we need more planets if the only one with life on it (as far as we know) is Earth?
- What do stars really look like?
- How far is the Moon from us?
- Why do you have wear a space hat (helmet) in space?
- Is the Moon defying gravity?
- Where does space lead to?
- How big is the universe?
- Are black holes real?
- What is in a black hole?
- Where does a black hole lead?
- Is there any other life or water on other planets or anywhere other than Earth?
- How do stars form?
- Does the Sun ever move?
- Does Venus have water or only ice?
- How does Venus have an ice ring around it?
- NB Venus does not have rings. Saturn has rings made mostly of water ice. All four gas giants (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune) have rings.
- Is the Milky Way real?
