Reading Homework

Each child has been given a Reading Record for use at home and school. Oak Class expectations are that children read daily for at least 10 minutes.

Reading checks are carried out daily in class but Reading Records should be used for children to record page numbers along with short comments about their book; this could be their favourite character, a brief summary, prediction or their opinion of what they have read so far.

Fostering a love of books and learning to read is best achieved by working in partnership with home and school. Reading to an adult is extremely beneficial to developing comprehension skills by asking key questions to provide an understanding of what is being read and discussing new vocabulary. Please keep a record of this in their Reading Records.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child's reading, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you for your support.
