Slide 8 - Work Still to Do

Hope and peace are powerful things. There were difficulties faced during the Second World War, but they were overcome. To do this, people needed to be brave and positive. They also needed to work hard.

What do you notice about the background of picture? What work still needed to be done? What words of encouragement and advice would you give to people who now were filled with hope but had plenty of work to do?

This image was taken on VE Day in Battersea, London. The rubble is evidence of the damage that occurred to many people’s homes and streets in the war.
