Task 1

Science - Electricity - Task 1

L.O. to use symbols for components in electrical circuits

Please note - this lesson is expected to last for two days.

SC1) I recognise the symbols for common components of electrical circuits.

SC2) I identify when a circuit will work - when it is complete.

SC3) I identify when a circuit will not work - when it is incomplete or 'broken'.

SC4) I explain how some components in a circuit function.

SC5) I draw circuit diagrams that represent complete circuits.

SC6) I comment the effect that changing a circuit will have.

SC7) I explore ways of making a bulb brighter and dimmer in a circuit.

1) Please visit the BBC page on how to draw electrical symbols and circuits. Watch the short video and study the symbols. Then try and complete the tasks. Take notes for yourself about your learning. This will help you later. If possible take screen captures of your work and post it to the forum. If you can't do this, please write what you learned in the forum.

2) Please visit the BBC page on how to change a circuit. Please read the information, watch the video and then try and complete the tasks. Take notes for yourself about your learning. This will help you later. If possible take screen captures of your work and post it to the forum. If you can't do this, please write what you learned in the forum.

3) Please visit Circuit World, where you can construct your own circuits. Experiment with changing the components and layout of circuits to see the effects they have. Can you make a bulb brighter or dimmer? Can you find more than one way of doing this. Take notes for yourself about your learning. This will help you later. If possible take screen captures of your work and post it to the forum. If you can't do this, please write what you learned in the forum.
