Success Criteria:
SC1) I carefully observe the techniques an artist uses;
SC2) I comment on the purpose of an illustration, thinking about the effect it has;
SC3) I imitate the style of an artist.
Differentiation:
Please see 'tricky', 'trickier' and 'trickiest' in the tasks below.
Tasks:
1) Look carefully at the art work of Charlie Mackesey. Comment on it, explaining what techniques are used and what the purpose of the art is. Tricky: use my video lesson notes as ideas. Trickier: make observations beyond and deeper than those I make. Trickiest: Also, compare the art to other art and illustrators that you know of.
2) Imitate one or more pieces of his work. Tricky: aim to imitate the work closely. Trickier: use the style and the characters in a new way. Trickiest: create new characters in the same style.
